I don't undertstand that question.  Rijndael (aka AES) is a
symmetric cipher algorithm and a hash algorithm is not needed.

New encryption packets do use an MDC which is just a SHA-1 hash over
the plaintext and encrypted along with the plaintext wigh whatever
algorithm currently in use.
