Font paths are moved to "/usr/share/fonts" from
"/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts"; otherwise, there should be no
difference. You can make doubly sure by copying the XF86Config
file to xorg.conf and making the changes there -- xorg.conf is
the prefered configure file name for xorg-x11. If will use
XG86Config, but if both are present, it chooses xorg.conf.
(For example, a typical font path in xorg.conf liiks like this:
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi"
)
You might waht to backup your xfree packages first, so that you can
easily restore it. Something like this should do it:
/usr/lib/portage/bin/quickpkg /var/db/pkg/x11-base/xfree-4.3.0-r5
(Or whatever version of xfree you are using.)
