I've had a Blade 100 working as a NFS server and client under both 2.4 and 
2.6 with no real problems.  The only time I ever see anything remotely 
like that is if portmap is not running.  

I'm guessing you've sniffed to make sure the Blade 100 is getting the 
packets OK?  Some more information on what you have tried for diagnostics 
would be great (if you're not totally discouraged at this point).

As for another network card, I've had good luck with Intel Ether-Express 
Pro 100s in PCI based UltraSPARCs.
