I'm not sure about this, but I don't think it is needed. gtk is, but it is
automatically added to your USE-list when you have installed gtk+ (which is
installed if you emerge gnome).

I quickly grepped for gtk2 in gnome-* but didn't find any real depending
packages, except for one (gnome-extra/shermans-aquarium) which has optional
gtk2 support.
