This is a well-known error, googling "fuse valgrind" returns
http://www.nabble.com/valgrind-and-fuse-file-systems-td13112112.html
as its first hit, which already gives the solution (do not call suid
programms directly).  Works for me.  Oh, and took me much longer to
find the first time round, so don't worry :-)
