Software Development :: Compilers
Text Processing :: General

About: Absimpa is a Java class library that provides a recursive decent
parser. It is an experiment in abstraction and Java generics. It tries to
include only the essentials of what makes out a parser and to leave out, or
rather leave free for specification, what is not relevant for the parsing
process.

About: Bonita is a lightweight BPM product that runs on the Standard (JSE)
and Enterprise (JEE) Java platforms. Bonita provides an integrated
graphical environment for BPM development and execution environments, and
comprises three modules: a runtime, a runtime, and a designer. The runtime
allows processes to be deployed, executed, and monitored through a rich API
that provides BPM services. The console is a graphical Web-based interface.
The designer is a BPM development environment that allows graphical
definition of processes, as well as BPM connectors for integration with an
existing system.

Changes: This maintenance version adds a great number of minor but
important enhancements and bugfixes. The main focus of this release has
been to solve the issues noted by the Bonita community since the release of
4.0.

lists, etc., JCards allows the user to define a database that contains the
fields they want. This is accomplished via an easy to use interface that
requires no understanding of SQL or any other database jargon. JCards was
initially developed for PDAs, but has now branched into another version
that is suitable for the modern desktop environment and includes a number
of extra features.

VPN (vpnc, vpnclient (a proprietary client from Cisco)), IPSec (FreeS/WAN,
Openswan, strongSwan, racoon), PPTP (pptpclient), OpenVPN, L2TP over IPSec
(l2tpd, xl2ltpd) (usable with FreeS/WAN, Openswan, strongSwan, and racoon)
and Vtun. Smartcards will be supported within OpenVPN and strongSwan. vpnc
is a replacement for the Cisco VPN client, and is used as a client for the
Cisco3000 VPN Concentrator. FreeS/WAN, Openswan, and strongSwan are IPSec
clients for Linux 2.4.x/2.6.x, and racoon is an IPSec client for Linux
2.6.x and *BSD. l2tpd is a Linux L2TP VPN client/server.

Changes: This release fixes a lot of bugs and adds a lot of new features.
It has been ported to KDE4 (KDE3 development will continue). It has OpenSSH
support, openl2tp support, a VPN types info dialog (shows if all is
available for a specific VPN), XAUTH support (racoon and IPSec), Mode
Config support for racoon, and support for OpenVPN > 2.1rc. Support for
racoon, IPSec (Openswan and strongSwan), and PPTP has improved. The

this behavior can be toggled with Ctrl-W. Support was added for .7z
compressed files. The F2 and F12 keys were swapped, so now F2 renames files
and F12 shows the file menu. New key shortcuts were added in dialogs.
Cursor movement was sped up. Lots of code cleaning and refactoring were

[017] - LionWiki 2.1
  by Adam Zivner (http://freshmeat.net/users/adamzivner/)
  Sun, Dec 21st 2008 11:13

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: Wiki

About: LionWiki is a minimalist file-based (doesn't need a database),
templatable, extensible wiki engine that works from just one file (30KB).
It supports page history, recent changes, interface localization, password
protection (both writing pages and seeing), and much more through plugins
(CAPTCHA, RSS, syntax for Tables). It's intended for small personal Web
sites, notebooks, and other simple applications. Installation is very easy:
just copy the file and create a directory.

Changes: Edit conflicts are prevented. A Tags plugin was added. The
Dandelion template was added. Full PHP4 compatibility (for 4.3.0 and later)
is ensured. Some SEO was done. Optional XSS protection was added.

[018] - Manent 0.10.17
  by Sasha (http://freshmeat.net/users/gsasha/)
  Sun, Dec 21st 2008 20:56

System :: Archiving
System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: Manent is an algorithmically strong backup and archival program. It
features efficient backup to anything that looks like storage. Currently it
supports plain filesystems ("directories"), FTP, and SFTP. Planned are
Amazon S3, optical disks, and email (SMTP and IMAP). It can work (making
progress towards finishing a backup) over a slow and unreliable network. It
can offer online access to the contents of the backup. Backed up storage is
completely encrypted. Backup is incremental, including changed parts of
large files. Moved, renamed, and duplicate files will not require
additional storage. Several computers can use the same storage for backup,
automatically sharing data. Both very large and very small files are
supported efficiently. Manent does not rely on timestamps of the remote
system to detect changes.

Changes: This release fixes restoration of increment descriptors from
storage. The setup scripts have better compatibility with Windows (the
problem was caused by Windows not being able to have both Manent and manent
in the same directory; the file named "manent" was moved away into a
subdirectory).

  Sun, Dec 21st 2008 11:44

Software Development :: Version Control

About: Mercurial is a fast, lightweight Source Control Management system
designed for the efficient handling of very large distributed projects.

Changes: The resolve command now requires a -a switch to resolve all files
and its help text has been improved. Recursion was made optional for hgweb;
it is triggered by "**" rather than "*". A fncache bug affecting
directories ending in " " or "." was fixed. Non-existing directories are
now created as needed when applying patches. A copy bug was fixed in the
SVN converter. Branch names may now be kept when using the rebase

[029] - SDL_gfx 2.0.18
  by Andreas Schiffler (http://freshmeat.net/users/andreasschiffler/)
  Sun, Dec 21st 2008 20:49

Multimedia :: Graphics
Software Development :: Libraries

About: The SDL_gfx library offers several components: Graphic Primitives,
Rotozoomer, Framerate control, and MMX image filters. The Primitives
component provides basic drawing routines: pixels, hlines, vlines, lines,
aa-lines, rectangles, circles, ellipses, trigons, polygons, Bezier curves,
and an 8x8 pixmap font for drawing onto any SDL Surface. Full alpha
blending, hardware surface locking, and all surface depths are supported.
The Rotozoomer can use interpolation for high quality output.

Changes: A libtool update for dependencies. MSVC C89 variable hoisting to
enable MSVC compilation. The addition of a VC9 (Visual Studio 2008) project
file. An update to the MinGW make file. A fix for uninitialized variables
in _putPixelAlpha(). Reversion to the original alpha routine in
_putPixelAlpha(), as the new one was causing issues in 16bbp. A colorkey
handling patch for rotozoom. Optimization has been downgraded to -O for asm
compatibility with gcc4.

[030] - Seed7 2008-12-21
  by Thomas Mertes (http://freshmeat.net/users/thomas_mertes/)
  Sun, Dec 21st 2008 20:50

Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Interpreters

About: Seed7 is a general purpose programming language. It is a higher
level language compared to Ada, C++, and Java. In Seed7, new statements and
operators can be declared easily. Functions with type results and type
parameters are more elegant than a template or generics concept. Object
orientation is used when it brings advantages and not in places when other
solutions are more obvious. Although Seed7 contains several concepts of
other programming languages, it is generally not considered as a direct
descendant of any other programming language.

Changes: The chapter about the Seed7 structured syntax definition in the
manual was improved. A new library named gethttp.s7i, which contains
support to get data with the HTTP protocol, was added. A new library named
html.s7i, which contains support functions for HTML, was added. The
bas7.sd7 (basic interpreter) example program was improved. The compiler
(comp.sd7) was improved to support the addresses of ITF_CPY and ITF_CREATE,
so hash tables with interface values are supported.

Software Development :: Documentation
Software Development :: Version Control
Text Processing :: Markup :: XSL/XSLT

About: svn2cl is an XSLT script that generates a clasic GNU-style
changelog file from Subversion log messages. It generates a
friendly-looking changelog from Subversion log messages like cvs2cl does
for CVS (although this is a lot simpler with subversion).

Changes: This version includes some small portability improvements to the
wrapper shell script.

[034] - werc 0.9.10.0
  by Lost Goblin (http://freshmeat.net/users/lostgoblin/)
  Sun, Dec 21st 2008 12:13

Information Management :: Document Repositories
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries

About: Werc is a minimalistic RESTful content management system
implemented as a collection of shell scripts written in the rc shell and
taking advantage of other Plan 9 tools available on *nix systems as part of
"Plan 9 from User Space". It is designed to be fast, simple, convenient,
and easily extensible (you can easily integrate your own dynamic content
with the rest of the site). It handles both small and big sites well,
including seamless multi-domain handling. All data is stored as plain text
files without need of a database and there is support for blog directories
with automatic RSS feed generation (and multi-feed aggregation).

Changes: Many minor improvements and fixes were made, and a new framework
for self-contained modular werc-based apps was added. The sites/ directory
was made configurable. Further optimizations were made to the sidebar code.
Timezones were added in blog posts. A new html_handler was added. Many code
reliability and clarity improvements were made.

[035] - xfburn 0.4.0
  by squisher (http://freshmeat.net/users/squisher/)
  Sun, Dec 21st 2008 11:59

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio :: CD Writing

About: xfburn is easy to use burning software for the Xfce desktop
environment (but will work with others). It uses libburn and libisofs as a
backend. ISO files can be burned, data composition created, discs
blanked, and DVD-RW media formatted and deformatted. Common burning
software features not yet implemented are audio CD creation and disc
copying.

Changes: This release adds audio CD support that uses gstreamer to do the
decoding. Support of special files has been improved. Integration with
Thunar is improved. Device handling is greatly improved, and mounted drives
are now automatically unmounted, if possible (which requires HAL and
thunar-vfs). Drag and drop from file managers is now supported.
