[001] - ACE 5.5.8 (Development)
  by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
  Fri, May 11th 2007 02:07

Software Development :: Libraries

About: The ADAPTIVE Communication Environment (ACE) is an object-oriented
(OO) C++ framework that helps you develop and deploy high-performance
networked applications faster and with less code to write and maintain.
ACE is especially useful for systems that use network and/or inter-process
communications and that take advantage of multithreading. While the ACE
source code is free, that's not the only way you save money with ACE.
ACE's wrappers and higher-level patterns help you develop your software
quickly and portably, helping you to complete your projects on time and
within budget.

Changes: Qt4 and Fox Toolkit support were added. Microsoft MSVC9 beta
support was added. Optional priorities were added for messages added to
message queues. IDL compiler bugs relating to abstract interfaces were
fixed. An option for enabling thread-per-consumer support was added. Wide
character support was improved. The IDL compiler was fixed to run on both
OpenVMS Alpha and OpenVMS IA64. Many other bugfixes and minor enhancements
were made.

Communications :: File Sharing
Information Management
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: Ampache is a Web-based MP3/Ogg/RM/Flac/WMA/M4A manager. It allows
you to view, edit, and play your audio files via HTTP/IceCast/Mpd or
Moosic. It has support for downsampling, playlists, artist, and album
views, album art, random play, song play tracking, user themes, and remote
catalogs using XML-RPC.

Changes: This release fixes a minor issue wherein the MPD preferences did
not get properly populated to each user when enabling the module. The Dump
Album art script has been fixed. Remote downsampling when using XML-RPC now
correctly uses the system wide sample rate. Albums of the moment will no
longer show duplicate albums. A minor issue with "now playing" if you seek
beyond 50% of the file has been fixed.

[007] - BeanKeeper 2.3.0.1
  by Robert (http://freshmeat.net/users/demonofthesystem/)
  Fri, May 11th 2007 03:39

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: BeanKeeper (formerly Simple Persistence for Java) is a full
featured, powerful object/relational persistence and query library. It has
a unique philosophy of simpleness and ease of use: it does not require
config files, annotations, code generation, code "enhancing", or any kind
of tools to be used. It handles simple Java beans (or POJOs) and its query
service returns lists. Despite its simpleness, under the hood the library
takes care of all the necessary logic: transaction visibility, result list
paging, keys and ids, table creation/modification, class relations,
inheritance/polymorphism, case sensitiveness, and much more. It currently
supports: Oracle, HSQLDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.

Changes: The dependency on hashCode() and equals() when loading objects
was fixed. This bug may have caused some relations not to be resolved in
some cases.

[011] - ccbuild 1.5.4
  by A. Bram Neijt (http://freshmeat.net/users/bmm/)
  Fri, May 11th 2007 15:01

Software Development :: Build Tools

About: ccbuild is like a dynamic Makefile. ccbuild finds all programs in
the current directory (containing "int main") and builds them. For this,
it reads the C++ sources and looks at all local and global includes. All
C++ files surrounding local includes are considered objects for the main
program. The global includes lead to extra compiler arguments using a
configuration file. ccbuild splits these arguments for compilation and
linking, keeping the linking arguments back for later use. It should allow
development without any scripting and only simple reusable configuration.
Deployment and distribution should still be done with other tools. It can
create simple Makefiles, A-A-P files, and graph dependencies using DOT
(graphviz) graphs.

Changes: This release was made to fix all open bugs. It will no longer
have problems loading the ~/.ccbuild/ccResolutions file and will link all
targets after the first has to be linked. The major improvement for this
release is the addition of autotools build scripts, which will hopefully
help with getting ccbuild packaged in more distributions.

About: irrKlang is a free high level 2D and 3D cross platform sound engine
and audio library tht plays WAV, MP3, OGG, MOD, XM, IT, S3M, and other file
formats. It can be used by C++ and all .NET languages (C#, Visual
Basic.NET, etc.). It has all of the features common to low-level audio
libraries as well as lots of useful features like a sophisticated
streaming engine, extendable audio reading, single and multi-threading
modes, 3D audio emulation for low-end hardware, a plugin system, multiple
rolloff models, and more. All of these can be accessed via an extremely
simple API using an object oriented design.

Changes: Linux support was improved by supporting slow hardware (thus
eliminating stuttering). The "click" sounds occurring at the end when
playing 8 bit sound files or huge wave files were removed.

[026] - IzPack 3.10.2 (Stable)
  by Julien Ponge (http://freshmeat.net/users/JPz/)
  Fri, May 11th 2007 14:30

Software Development
System :: Installation/Setup
System :: Software Distribution

About: IzPack is a powerful Java installer builder. It is able to create
lightweight and modular installers. You have the choice of the installer
panels you want to use (some can do the same job, so that you can select
the one you prefer), and you even have the choice of the kind of installer
that you want to use. IzPack doesn't use any portion of native code, it is
designed to be fully independent from the operating system that runs it.
It is very easy for the end user with a properly installed JVM to use an
installer made with IzPack, since a single "java -jar installer.jar" will
launch it.

Changes: This is a normal maintenance release containing various bugfixes
and translation updates. Vista/Java 6 compatibility has been enhanced.

Games/Entertainment :: Multi-User Dungeons (MUD)

About: JamochaMUD offers Unicode, plug-in, and multi-language support (8
different languages) to allow a more enjoyable MUCKing/MUDding experience.
It features command history, synchronized window controls, experimental
SOCKS 5 support, and greatly improved ANSI colour support. It plays nice
on Unix systems, supports a wide range of MU*s, and also includes
emulation of some TinyFugue editor controls. JamochaMUD includes classes
that may be easily reused in other Java applications.

Changes: A fix has been implemented to allow users to send a plain
carriage return to a MU*. This is used to scroll descriptions on some
MU*s. This fix also leads to fixing a problem where a double new-line was
sent along with the input.

  Fri, May 11th 2007 00:56

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: JGame is a small 2D game engine that runs on any Java 1.2+
platform. It provides a very high-level framework, enabling "classic" type
arcade games to be developed with a minimum of code and effort. It is based
on sprites with automatic animation and collision detection, and a
tile-based background with easy sprite-tile interaction facilities. JGame
games can be run as both applications and applets, and can be scaled to
any resolution or run full-screen.

Changes: This version sports a host of bugfixes and minor improvements;
only highlights are listed here. The engine initialization sequence was
changed. The paths used for media and table files are now relative to
package. Tile pre-draw was implemented, subdividing tile drawing work due
to scrolling more evenly. A concurrency bug that sometimes caused glitches
when scrolling was fixed. A debug bounding box drawing bug was fixed.

  Fri, May 11th 2007 00:56

Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: The MiniUPnP project is a library and a daemon. The library is
aimed to enable applications to use the capabilities of a UPnP Internet
Gateway Device present on the network to forward ports. The daemon adds
the UPnP Internet Gateway Device functionality to a NAT gateway running
OpenBSD/NetBSD/FreeBSD with PF or Linux 2.4.x/2.6.x with netfilter. One of
its most interesting features is to enforce some permissions to allow or
deny redirections, bringing some security to UPnP.

Changes: A nasty bug has been fixed in the Linux/netfilter implementation.
This bug was preventing the DeletePortMapping UPnP SOAP method from working
correctly. The first mapping was always removed instead of the right one.

[055] - rdup 0.3.9
  by Miek Gieben (http://freshmeat.net/users/miek/)
  Fri, May 11th 2007 11:00

System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: rdup is a utility inspired by rsync and the Plan9 way of doing
backups. rdup itself does not backup anything; it only prints a list of
the names of files that have changed since the last backup. It also
handles files that are removed, allowing for correct incremental backups.
Auxilary script that implement a backup strategy are included.

Changes: A new script, rdup-simple, was added to aid in backups for
non-root users.

About: Scala is a modern multi-paradigm programming language designed to
express common programming patterns in a concise, elegant, and type-safe
way. It smoothly integrates features of object-oriented and functional
languages including mixins, algebraic datatypes with pattern matching,
genericity, and more. It is well integrated with Java and .NET: the Scala
compiler produces standard Java class files or .NET assemblies, and
Java/.NET libraries and frameworks can be used without glue code or
additional declarations.

[059] - Scalable OpenGroupware.org (Inverse edition) 0.9-20070509

Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)
Information Management

About: Scalable OpenGroupware.org (SOGo) is a project derived from
OpenGroupware.Org (OGo) with scalability in mind. The Inverse edition of
this project has many feature enhancements: CalDAV and GroupDAV
compliance, full handling of vCard as well as vCalendar/iCalendar
formats, a portable AJAX-based Web interface similar in look and feel to
the Mozilla Thunderbird, Lightning, and Sunbird projects, and support for
folder sharing and ACLs.

Changes: The LDAP layer was completely rewritten so that the address books
and the user authentication mechanism are centralized. The user entries in
iCalendars are now identified with their email addresses. The LDAP-related
settings have been simplified. Moreover, the mails composed from an
addressbook entry now take the card's full name into account in their
destination fields. In the mail module, the "from" dropdown list suggests
all the available user identities and take the user's full name into
account too when composing messages.

  by Dominique Reymond (http://freshmeat.net/users/Reymond/)
  Fri, May 11th 2007 02:33

Education
Scientific/Engineering

About: Seismic Toolkit is a tool for processing and displaying seismic
signal data in a graphical interface. It reads seismic signals in SAC
format, and provides a variety of signal processing, such as filtering,
spectral analysis, polarisation analysis, time-frequency representation,
Hilbert transform, and singular value decomposition. Some utilities are
included for useful seismological applications, like computation of
Seismic Moment Mo, Mantle magnitude Mm and Moment magnitude Mw, MTPA
spectral analysis, plotting focal mechanisms, computation (and plotting)
of instrumental response from poles and zeros, and some usefull GMT
(Generic Mapping Tool) scripts for plotting signals, responses, and
time-frequency in Postscript files for high quality prints.

Changes: PPOL_MTPA is a new utility program that was added to the project
for computing polarization of P wave in the frequency domain. The spectral
analysis tool is based on the MTPA method (Multi Proplate Taper Analysis).
With this method, set polarization parameters are computed at each given
frequency.

About: trillbox is a flexible and extendable toolkit for building dynamic
Web pages. Written in Perl and based on Template::Recall, it provides
"widgets" (or controls) that you can quickly integrate into your Perl Web
