Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: amoeba is an XML-based framework for Web environment development
backed by XML databases (the eXist native XML database). It's deployable
as a war archive in servlet containers (like Tomcat and/or Jetty). Almost
no Java knowledge or Java programming is required while developing with
amoeba, except for extending base framework functionality. Programming in
amoeba means writing XML documents. The environment has four
domain-specific languages: pipeline (general XML processing using language
features and by calling tasks), sitemap (for connecting the Web environment
to all other languages), form (HTTP forms processing), and modification.

Changes: Encoding problems have been solved. http-client and load tasks
have been improved to allow encoding setting. Support for custom business
logic exceptions has been added (to be shown to a user without a stack
trace, for example).

[009] - Common Configuration Parser 0.2
  by Eskild Hustvedt (http://freshmeat.net/users/ZeroDogg/)
  Thu, Jan 5th 2006 14:27

Software Development
System :: Systems Administration
Text Processing :: Filters

About: Common Configuration Parser (CCP) is a program that reads
configuration files and upgrades them. It takes an oldfile (typically the
configuration file currently in use) and a newfile (typically the default
new configuration file) and optionally a template (a file that describes
how the generated configuration file should look) and merges the files
into one, creating a new configuration file that has the changes made to
the old file in addition to the new options included in the new file. It
is completely independent of the program that created the configuration
file, and can be used for many different purposes such as merging changes
between an old user-edited configuration file and a .rpmnew file generated
by RPM during upgrades.

Changes: Now only strips comments in the beginning of lines (fixes bug
#15364). The use of keys with special characters (such as []) in them has
been fixed. No longer defines the package CCP. Now reacts to the
CCP_VERBOSE and CCP_VERYVERBOSE environment variables.

[011] - crypt_blowfish 1.0
  by Solar Designer (http://freshmeat.net/users/solardiz/)
  Thu, Jan 5th 2006 10:22

Security :: Cryptography
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
System :: Systems Administration

About: crypt_blowfish is an efficient implementation of a modern password
hashing algorithm, based on the Blowfish block cipher, provided via the
crypt(3) and a reentrant interface. It is compatible with bcrypt as used
in OpenBSD. It is adaptable to future processor performance improvements,
allowing you to arbitrarily increase the processing cost of checking a
password while still maintaining compatibility with your older password
hashes. The hashes it produces are several orders of magnitude stronger
than traditional Unix DES-based or FreeBSD-style MD5-based hashes.

Changes: This version corrects a bug in the way salts for extended
DES-based and for MD5-based password hashes are generated with the
crypt_gensalt*() family of functions. The bug would result in a higher
than expected number of matching salts with large numbers of password
hashes of the affected types. crypt_gensalt*()'s functionality for
Blowfish-based (bcrypt) hashes that crypt_blowfish itself implements and
for traditional DES-based crypt(3) hashes was not affected.

[020] - KTechlab 0.3
  by David Saxton (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidsaxton/)
  Thu, Jan 5th 2006 10:29

Scientific/Engineering :: Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

About: KTechlab is an IDE for electronic circuits and microcontrollers. It
can perform simulation of a variety of components (logic, integrated,
linear, nonlinear, and reactive), simulation and debugging of PIC
microcontrollers via gpsim, and comes with its own closely-linked and
complementary high level languages: FlowCode and Microbe. It has been
designed to be as easy to use and unintrusive as possible; all components
and FlowParts have context sensitive help, and simulating electronics is
as simple as dragging components onto the work area and creating
connectors that autoroute themselves between their pins. FlowCode allows
users new to PICs to instantly create their own programs, while the
electronic simulation allows stepping through a PIC's assembly program
inside a circuit.

Changes: Simulation support for transistors, inductors, and op-amps.
Translations into French, Italian, and Spanish. Support for SDCC, a C
compiler that supports PICs. Programming of PICs. High-level-language
debugging (C and Microbe). Symbol inspection in the debugger, including
mouse-over tooltip display. Voltage and current probes for the
oscilloscope.

[023] - LoFiMo 1.0.7
  by anzac (http://freshmeat.net/users/anzac/)
  Thu, Jan 5th 2006 10:21

Internet :: Log Analysis
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
System :: Diagnostics

About: The main purpose of LoFiMo is, as the name states, to monitor log
files. It does this in real time, i.e. shows the contents of log files as
they are changing. The user can connect to LoFiMo with a Web browser or
use the console for plain text output. When using a Web browser, the
output can be formatted with cascading stylesheets, which the user can
define. Thus, it is possible to highlight certain log entries with
different colors and fonts. It is also possible to play sounds or execute
commands (send an email, play sound with a custom player, etc.) when a log
entry matches a filter. LoFiMo can parse Apache style log files and syslog
style log files. Among others, there are filters that can parse iptables
logs and merge multiple log lines of Postfix into a single one.

Changes: This release adds some documentation, fixes a bug in Postfix log
processing, and adds the ability to filter Postfix log entries by status
(e.g. to highlight bounced and deferred email).

  by grnull (http://freshmeat.net/users/grnull/)
  Thu, Jan 5th 2006 14:18

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: NativeCall lets developers call operating system methods from Java
through an easy object-oriented API. It supports structs as well as
calling methods in arbitrary modules.

Changes: Struct has been removed. Simply use
java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream, and don't forget endianness. Holder now
throws a ClassCastException instead of an IllegalArgumentException if you
pass a Holder instance to its constructor (which was never allowed
anyway). NativeCall now throws a ClassCastException instead of an
IllegalArgumentException if you use unsupported types as arguments. More
tests and a code coverage report have been added.

[029] - OpenSyncro 1.2
  by Smilehouse (http://freshmeat.net/users/smilehouse/)
  Thu, Jan 5th 2006 02:05

Information Management
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: OpenSyncro is an enterprise application integration (EAI) tool. It
runs on the Apache Tomcat application server and has a Web browser
interface for setting up and maintaining component based integration
processes. Features include data converters from CSV tables and other text
based data formats to XML, support for XSL transformations (XSLT),
accessing files on FTP/HTTP servers, and databases via JDBC. The Web
Services connector for Smilehouse Workspace webshop is also built-in.
OpenSyncro can be extended with Connector Packs for ERP/CRM systems such
as the SAP Business One, HansaWorld, Exact, and Compiere.

Changes: This version's new built-in components make it possible to
connect to databases using a JDBC driver, download files from HTTP
servers, and process text files (e.g. CSV tables) larger than the
available free memory. Exporting XML data from a Smilehouse Workspace
webshop is now more versatile with the introduction of Hibernate query
(HQL) components. Third party Connector Packs for integrating Workspace
webshops with Compiere and Exact ERP systems are now available.

[034] - Structured Document Validator 0.7.9
  by Jeff (http://freshmeat.net/users/jchapman/)
  Thu, Jan 5th 2006 10:30

Text Editors
Text Processing
Text Processing :: General

About: Structured Document Validator implements a generalized method for
validating both the structure and content of structured documents. Any
data format that can be deterministically divided into tags and data is
classed as a structured document. This definition applies to a wide array
of data formats, including XML, Java properties files, and delimited value
files. The application performs validations based on user-defined
Structured Document Definitions (SDDs). It provides an environment for
validation, SDD development, and document editing.

Changes: This release includes the addition of images to validate actions
and shortcuts to those actions on the toolbar; the automatic closing of
the error log tab when there are no errors/warnings encountered for the
associated file; and the use of attribute names and values for tag
ambiguity resolution. Bugfixes include changes to character entity storage
to address memory issues; A fix for a problem with compilation and absolute
frequencies being reset to 1; and re-implementation of SDDTree handling in
developer to handle memory problems with large SDDs.
