Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
About: aMember is a flexible user management script. It has support for
PayPal, Clickbank, Multicards, 2Checkout, Revecom, PayPal multi-currency
processing, Authorize.net, Q-Chex, E-Gold and offline payments (offline
cheques/Western Union/Money Order), and allows you to setup paid
membership areas on your site. It also can be used without any payment
system (you can manage users manually). Unique features are support for
multiple payment systems at the same time and support for multiple
products (subscriptions) with different levels of access, pricing, and
time periods.
Changes: Bruteforce attack protection and the ability to add fields and
protect folders from the control panel were added. The credit card
payment routines were improved, and email verification on signup was
implemented. The PayPal plug-in was fixed and chargeback handling was
added. The unique ability to protect files using mod_rewrite was added,
and you can now set e-mail autoresponders for products to automatically
send templated email to customers after specified time periods. The
ability to send HTML emails and attachements was added, and the weekly
income report was fixed.

[002] - Astaro Security Linux 4.770 (Beta)
by astaro (http://freshmeat.net/users/astaro/)
Thursday, March 25th 2004 19:38
System :: Networking :: Firewalls
About: Firewall, VPN, spam, virus and surf blocking are all included in
Astaro Security Linux, an all-in one Internet security gateway. It does
stateful packet inspection filtering, VPN with IPSec (PKI for X.509
certificates) and PPTP, wireless LAN, VLAN, PPPoE, PPPoA, content
filtering, user authentication, virus protection, spam protection, and
much more. With its Web-based management tool, WebAdmin, and the ability
to pull updates via the Internet, it is pretty easy to manage. It is based
on a special hardened Linux 2.4 distribution where most daemons are
running in change-roots and are protected by kernel capabilities.
Changes: This beta snapshot includes an ASL V4 configuration import,
dynamic update of the network definition type "IPSec User Group", IPsec
tunnels with DES encryption, new PPPoE/DSL MTU settings, a Factory Reset
option, improvements for remote syslog support, for the proxy content
manager, and for uplink failover, and bugfixes for Alias interfaces for
standard/VLAN interfaces. Most reporting capabilities are now finished and
more Online Help is included. The performance has been tuned and a lot of
small bugfixes and improvements built in.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions
About: blueflops is a two floppies Linux distribution with a graphical Web
browser (links) and an IRC client (tirc). The 2.6.x kernel has most of the
Ethernet drivers compiled in (as modules) and PPP support (for dial-up
connections). It includes uClibc, busybox, and UPX for compressing the
kernel. It also features OpenSSL. One of the features is the configuration
procedure. The scripts are all accessible by a setup script, and have a
nice dialog front-end.
Changes: This release uses kernel 2.6.4 with support for all PCMCIA
ethernet drivers compiled in. There are now 79 ethernet drivers included.
tirc, a new, small IRC client was included, and syslinux now uses the
"-s" option, which may fix some booting problems. The "links" colors were
changed to nicer ones, and the browser font quality (hopefully not
noticable) and size were reduced. Some accented characters were also left
out. The name of the bootable image for use with CDs was changed, and
there is no longer a help screen in e3.

Security
Software Development :: Testing
About: Burp proxy is an interactive HTTP/S proxy server for attacking
Web-enabled applications. It operates as a man-in-the-middle between the
end browser and the target Web server, and allows the attacker to
intercept, inspect, and modify the raw traffic passing in both directions.
Text and hex editing may be performed on intercepted traffic. Downstream
proxies are supported. Authentication may be done to downstream proxy and
Web servers, using basic, NTLM, or digest authentication types.
Changes: The core request and authentication engine has been completedly
rewritten to enhance performance and stability. Some bugs in the
chunked-encoding arithmetic have been fixed. A timestamp has been added to
log file entries.

by Pierre-Philippe Coupard
(http://freshmeat.net/users/pierrephilippecoupar/)
Thursday, March 25th 2004 22:25
Communications :: Chat :: Internet Relay Chat
Communications :: Ham Radio
About: CWirc is a plugin for the X-Chat IRC client to transmit raw Morse
code over the internet using IRC servers as reflectors. The transmitted
Morse code can be received in near real-time by other X-Chat clients with
the CWirc plugin. CWirc tries to emulate a standard amateur radio rig: it
sends and receives Morse over virtual channels, and it can listen to
multiple senders transmitting on the same channel. Morse code is keyed
locally using a straight or iambic key connected to a serial port, or
using the mouse buttons, and the sound is played through the sound card,
or through an external sounder.
Changes: 2 new keyer modes (dit memory and dit+dah memory) have been
added. An "About" tab is now shown in the panel to give general
information, and the CWirc window is now non-resizable.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Security
About: DansGuardian is a Web content filtering proxy that uses Squid to do
all the fetching. It filters using multiple methods including, but not
limited to, phrase matching, file extension matching, MIME type matching,
PICS filtering, and URL/domain blocking. It has the ability to switch off
filtering by certain criteria including username, domain name, source IP,
etc. The configurable logging produces a log in an easy to read format. It
has the option to only log text-based pages, thus significantly reducing
redundant information (such as every image on a page).
Changes: This version fixed a number of URL bypassing tricks such as
including /../ in the path. Bugs with the Darwin port and gentle restart
URL cache were also fixed. Some timeouts were increased and a Danish
language pack was included. The largest change is the addition of a
temporary denied page bypass feature.

by John Ogness (http://freshmeat.net/users/jogness/)
Thursday, March 25th 2004 04:41
Security
System :: Monitoring
System :: Operating System Kernels
About: Dazuko provides a device driver allowing 3rd-party (userland)
applications to execute file access control. It was originally developed
by H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH to allow on-access virus scanning. Other uses
include a file-access monitor/logger or external security implementations.
It operates by intercepting file access calls and passing the file
information to a 3rd-party application. The 3rd-party application then has
the opportunity to tell the device driver to allow or deny the file
access. The 3rd-party application also receives information about the
access event, such as accessed file, type of access, process id, and user
id.
Changes: Custom snprintf and vsnprintf functions were added to support
older kernels that do not have them. The order of device and LSM
registration on Linux 2.6 was rearranged, allowing LSM registration to
fail gracefully.
