[001] - AmavisNewSQL SquirrelMail Plugin 0.6
  by JimmyDigital (http://freshmeat.net/users/jimmydigital/)
  Saturday, December 20th 2003 15:07

Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)
Communications :: Email :: Filters
Text Processing :: Filters

About: The AmavisNewSQL SquirrelMail plugin gives you per-user control of
a subset of SpamAssassin settings which are stored in a database. It also
allows you to use a quarantine database for questionable mail. This plugin
was designed with enterprise use in mind, and differs from already
existing plugins in that it works with amavis-new rather than SpamAssassin
directly. Most of the code lives in an external class that you can reuse
in your own admin tools. It even has support for SOAP calls to perform
common tasks.

Changes: This release adds fixes for two SQL statements that were causing
problems for MySQL users and fixes for other small problems.
Multi-language support has been added, with an Italian translation
included.

patterns which can commonly be found on Islamic art. It is suitable for
tileable background images, and is particularly aimed at combined use with
POV-Ray.

Changes: This release fixes three minor GUI and texturing glitches. It
also comes with a complete documentation in both HTML and PDF versions, in
French and English.

Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: BFilter is a smart filtering HTTP proxy. It removes ads, webbugs,
and popups. Unlike the majority of similar tools, it doesn't rely on a
list of blocked URLs, but instead parses HTML on the fly, and detects ads
using a set of heuristic rules. BFilter has a built-in JavaScript engine
which detects popups and js-generated ads.

Changes: Many bugfixes were made, including a possible crash and a leak of
descriptors.

  by Joe Landman (http://freshmeat.net/users/landman/)
  Saturday, December 20th 2003 07:57

System :: Networking

About: ifinfo is a simple commandline network inquiry/formatting tool
specifically designed to output some useful information about your network
connection. It works by querying the relevant tables in /proc as well as
the output of various Unix commands. Its entire purpose in life is to tell
you what you want to know, hopefully in the format you wish to see it.

Changes: This release adds some requested and overlooked features. The IRQ
parameter will now return the IRQ of the interface. The HWaddr parameter
(or the --mac option) will now return the hardware MAC address. The format
string has been fixed so that a newline is appended to each printed line.
A manual page has been written which is reasonably comprehensive, though
it might be missing some of the newer switches. The code was moved to
/usr/local rather than /usr. Finally, the license was switched to pure
GPL.

[021] - Java Serialization to XML 2.1.4doc2 (JSX 2)
  by Brendan Macmillan (http://freshmeat.net/users/yow/)
  Saturday, December 20th 2003 07:51

Communications
Database
Software Development

About: Java Serialization to XML (JSX) allows you to write and read any
Java object graph as XML data with one line of code. You can verify your
data and manipulate it with standard XML tools like DOM, JDOM, and XSLT.
JSX automatically creates a file format/wire protocol for all Java
objects, so that it is always up to date as the code evolves. When you
need backward compatibility, JSX provides the evolution techniques of Java
Object Serialization, and you can also modify the XML directly. Unlike
databinders, such as JAXB and Castor, no explicit mapping is required, and
JSX works for all objects.

Changes: Bugs in the Memento example have been fixed.

various emulator formats. Its intended use is for emulator authors; it
also includes some sample tools to read sectors from discs in CP/M, DOS,
and Acorn formats. There is special-case code for direct access to the
floppy controller under Linux, and to access the floppy driver under
Windows. Java (JNI) bindings are included.

Changes: Support has been added for the ApriDisk file format. The Linux
floppy driver now includes support for double-stepping.

[040] - pppusage 0.2.4
  by Holger Weiss (http://freshmeat.net/users/chaplyn/)
  Saturday, December 20th 2003 07:50

Internet :: Log Analysis

About: pppusage summarizes average and total transfer volumes, number of
connections, and average and total online time for PPP connections. The
data is collected by reading the syslog files which contain the ppp[d]
messages. A database file is used to store the relevant data. Certain time
ranges (that is: a year, month, or day) may be specified on the command
line.

Changes: Updating an existing database is now much faster than before.
Apart from that, multiple syslog files are now sorted by their last
modification time (instead of simply by their name). This change was
especially necessary since SuSE 9.0 uses an unusual naming convention for
the rotated logfiles, which means that pppusage version prior to 0.2.4
can't deal with them.

[041] - ProGuard 2.0
  by Eric Lafortune (http://freshmeat.net/users/lafortune/)
  Saturday, December 20th 2003 13:04

Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Code Generators

About: ProGuard is a free Java class file shrinker and obfuscator. It can
detect and remove unused classes, fields, methods, and attributes. It can
then rename the remaining classes, fields, and methods using short,
meaningless names. The resulting jars are more compact and more difficult
to reverse-engineer. Advantages of ProGuard compared to other Java
shrinkers and obfuscators are compact template-based configuration, memory
efficiency, and speed.

Changes: The most visible new feature of this version is the optional
graphical user interface. It allows users to create, load, modify, and
save ProGuard configurations. They can then process their code right away,
or run ProGuard from the command line using saved configurations. In
addition, there are new options to perform incremental obfuscation and to
filter input and output jars. Internally, the automatic detection of
.class constructs has been improved. Misplaced manifest files and foreign
character sets are now handled more robustly. Various small bugs have been
fixed.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: The TT Web Site Manager is a general purpose database driven Web
site management system written in PHP. It features support for MySQL in
the default distribution, with MS SQL server, ODBC and SQLite supported by
installing code modules. It allows multiple Web sites to be built and
managed entirely on the fly from dynamic content stored in a database.
Pages can be assembled in any order from a library of code items which can
include a mixture of static HTML, SQL, and PHP. There is no framework of
templates or forms to constrain the coder, and there is no limitation on
content type, meaning that almost any content can be served.

Changes: This release incorporates many feature upgrades and bugfixes,
including better database support module integration, a more streamlined
installation script, slight tweaks to the administration script interface,
and compatibility testing with the PHP5 Beta. Alongside this release come
new versions of the ODBC and MS SQL modules, as well as an experimental
new module supporting SQLite on PHP5.

About: ulxmlrpcpp is a library to perform calls via XML-RPC in an object

serial line with a user-defined protocol).

Changes: New features include support for Unicode, multi-threading servers
(RPC-only and HTTP+RPC) and RPC clients as well as support for HTML form
handling. It has been verified to compile and run under Linux, Windows,
