[001] - AFTPloader 0.4.4 (Development)
  by Andreas (http://freshmeat.net/users/star4ever/)
  Sunday, October 14th 2001 09:23

Category: Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: AFTPloader is a tool for Web developers to update homepages on FTP
servers. You can build entire hompages with AFTPloader with the intergrated
HTML editor. You can also export projects to Perl code, which can be useful
if you would like to upgrade homepages in a cronjob. It is designed to be
easy to use and powerful at the same time.

Changes: This is a bugfix and usability release. A bug in the export
function was fixed. Some window focusing problems were fixed. Some of the
security widgets were changed. The editor was improved with some more
HTML-related features. The export function was improved. A bug in the local
preview function was fixed.

[002] - Apache::Gallery 0.2
  by Michael Legart (http://freshmeat.net/users/legart/)
  Sunday, October 14th 2001 14:26

Category: Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: Apache::Gallery is a mod_perl handler that sits on top of your
DocumentRoot and creates an image gallery of the files and directories
there. It creates an thumbnail index of each directory and allows viewing
of pictures in different resolutions. Pictures are resized on the fly and
cached.

Changes: This release uses Imlib2 instead of libgd2. It now supports all
the filetypes Imlib2 supports. A script to edit comments and to build a
cache with thumbnails has been added. There are minor changes to the
default templates.

About: Askemos is a distributed operating system modeled after human
communication. It features an unconstrained privilege system without a
super user concept, a rootless object system, and hierarchical (XML) data.

Changes: Several bugfixes have been made in many places. MIME handling for
non-XML objects was improved. Nondynamic objects should not defeat caching
any more.

CDs. It copies everything from a "master" to the CD-ROM. It is independent
of the distribution you use as a master.

Changes: Source has been moved to a separate package. Precompiled linuxrc,

[005] - cc65 2.7.0
  by BlackJack (http://freshmeat.net/users/BlackJack/)
  Sunday, October 14th 2001 18:07

Categories: Software Development :: Assemblers, Software Development ::
Compilers

About: An almost ISO C compatible C compiler which produces binaries for
6502-based computers. Targets that are supported out of the box are: Apple
][, Atari 8Bit machines, Commodore  C64/C128/C16/C116, Commodore Plus/4,
Commodore 600/700, and GEOS for C64. The package includes a complete suite
of assembler developement tools (assembler, linker, archiver) which allows
mixing of C and assembler code.

Changes: This release has a new, much improved compiler backend, a new
compiler option to create a dependency list for a makefile, option and
pragma to generate stack overflow checks, is more flexible, and has an
INCBIN command for the assembler. The compiler generates line info that is
passed through the assembler to the linker. C functions may now be declared
as __fastcall__. There is a new #elif preprocessor directive, new improved
__asm__ syntax for the inline assembler, new optimizations, support for the
Commodore 510, and mouse support for Atari, C64, C128, CBM 510 and GEOS.

than others without MX records even if there is whois information for the
non-MX domain. telstra.net and connect.com.au have been added to the list

Categories: Software Development :: Libraries, System :: Filesystems

About: libferris is a virtual filesystem that exposes hierarchical data of
all kinds through a common C++ interface. Access to data is performed using
C++ IOStreams and Extended Attributes (EA) can be attached to each datum to
present metadata. Ferris uses a plugin API to read various data sources and
expose them as contexts and to generate interesting EA. Current
implementations include Native (kernel disk IO with event updates using
fam), xml (mount an xml file as a filesystem), edb (mount a berkeley
database), ffilter (mount an LDAP filter string) and mbox (mount your

Changes: Support was added for mounting tar, tar.gz, tar.bz2, and rpm files

[028] - Linux 2.4.12-ac2 (2.4-ac)
  by Patrick Lenz (http://freshmeat.net/users/scoop/)
  Sunday, October 14th 2001 16:21

Category: System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: Linux is a clone of the Unix kernel, written from scratch by Linus
Torvalds with assistance from a loosely-knit team of hackers across the
Net. It aims towards POSIX and Single UNIX Specification compliance. It has
all the features you would expect in a modern fully-fledged Unix kernel,
including true multitasking, virtual memory, shared libraries, demand
loading, shared copy-on-write executables, proper memory management, and
TCP/IP networking.

Changes: The reiserfs buffer accounting bug has been fixed, a VIA rhine
oops fix has been incorporated, the PPC build has been fixed and license
tags have been added, the partition size handling bug has been fixed, more
sane handling of BIOSes that slow the CPU has been added, the pm.h include
in pc_keyb.c has been fixed, some of the APM code has been documented,
Reiserfs big endian support has been reapplied, the misleading bootflag
reporting has been fixed, a reporting bug in the promise driver has been
fixed, and bits of SCSI have been switched to use set_current_state.

[030] - Make CD-ROM Recovery 0.5.6
  by Gratien D'haese (http://freshmeat.net/users/gdha/)
  Sunday, October 14th 2001 16:15

Categories: System :: Archiving :: Backup, System :: Archiving ::
Compression, System :: Installation/Setup

About: mkCDrec (Make CDROM Recovery) makes a bootable (El Torito) disaster
recovery image, including backups of the Linux system to one or more
CD-ROM(s) (multi-volume sets). Otherwise, the backups can be stored on
another disk, NFS disk, or (remote) tape. After a disk crash or system
intrusion, the system can be booted from the CD-ROM and one can restore the
complete system as it was. It also features disk cloning, which allows one
to restore a disk to another disk (the destination disk does not have to be
of the same size, as it calculates the partition layout itself). Currently,
ext2, ext3, minix, msdos, fat, vfat, reiserfs, xfs and jfs filesystems are
supported.

Changes: The exclude directories bug has been fixed, as well as some minor
bug reports from users. The start-up phase has been modularized so that it
is easier to plug-in start-up scripts. The CD writer detection part has
been rewritten in test.sh. Automatic resizing of the partition layout used
by the cloning script has been slightly improved. A cramfs initial ramdisk
(still beta) used by Debian 2.4-based kernels is included. More tools were
added to the binaries list.

  Sunday, October 14th 2001 01:07

Categories: Multimedia :: Sound/Audio, Multimedia :: Sound/Audio ::
Conversion, Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players, Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
:: Players :: MP3

About: mpg321 is a Free clone of mpg123, a command-line MP3 player. It is
designed to be a drop-in replacement for mpg123, and therefore its
interface has been designed around that of mpg123, without using any of its
code. mpg321 has been designed for use with frontends such as gqmpeg,
although it is just as useful on the command-line. Unlike mpg123, it
supports ESD and ALSA output without recompiling, and it does all MP3
decoding with only fixed-point math by using the mad MPEG audio decoder
library.

Changes: Mono output function re-added.

The entire R5RS Scheme standard is supported, with no exceptions. This
includes a full number tower including complex number support and arbitrary
precision integers and floating point numbers, as well as full support for
first-class continuations (not just escaping continuations as in many other
