  Thursday, August 16th 2001 09:52

Category: System :: Software Distribution

About: The 2-Disk Xwindow System is a small Linux distribution which
includes busybox, tinylogin, e3, pppd, several daemons, X, fvwm2, chimera,
and xpaint. The kernel supports umsdos.ext2, initrd, floppy, iso9660, ppp,
and networking.

Changes: Autopunctuation was fixed. FvwmScript was removed. The XPMs were
trimmed. Some Fvwm config errors were fixed. The frames resize bugs in
Chimera were fixed, as well as the app swallow bugs and the args parsing
bug. A new -justwid argument was added. Xpaint was recompiled to reduce its
size by 70kb.

[002] - abcde 2.0 (Stable)
  by Robert Woodcock (http://freshmeat.net/users/rcw/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 02:41

Category: Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio :: CD Ripping

About: abcde is a frontend to cdparanoia, wget, cd-discid, id3, and your
favorite Ogg/MP3 encoder (Oggenc is the default). It grabs an entire CD and
converts each track to Ogg/MP3, then comments or ID3-tags each file, all
with one command. It supports parallelization, SMP, HTTP proxies,
customizable filename organization and munging, playlist generation, and
remote distributed encoding via distmp3.

Changes: Complete rewrite. Support for Ogg Vorbis, resuming, ID3v2, encoder
niceness, and devfs has been added. CDDB support is much more
user-friendly. Now defaults to FreeDB. New distmp3 scheduler. Logs and
notifies users of errors from background processes.

[004] - Alzabo 0.50
  by Dave Rolsky (http://freshmeat.net/users/urthman/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 16:58

Categories: Database, Software Development

About: Alzabo is a two-fold program. Its first function is as a data
modelling tool. Through either a schema creation interface or a custom Perl
program, it allows a programmer to create a set of schema, table, column,
etc. objects that represent a data model. Alzabo is also capable of reverse
engineering an existing data model. Its second function is as a
RDBMS-to-object mapping system. Once you have created a schema, you can use
Alzabo classes to access its data. These classes offer a high-level
interface to common operations such as SQL SELECT, INSERT, DELETE, and
UPDATE commands.

Changes: This release adds some new features (notably outer join support
and a move towards expressing relationships as cardinality + dependencies)
and fixes some bugs.

[005] - Android 0.99.7
  by Larry (http://freshmeat.net/users/talespinner/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 11:21

Category: Software Development :: Testing

About: Android is a tool for recording and playing back scripts of X11
events. It uses the XTest extension to send synthetic input events to any
specified X-server. It is an extension to the TCL/Tk shell language.
Android provides a "follow me" facility that will write the script for a
particular series of events as you show the system what to do.

Changes: The send_xevents type command now supports full Latin-1. Bugs in
typing shifted characters were fixed.

[006] - ANTLR 2.7.1
  by Terence Parr (http://freshmeat.net/users/parrt/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 16:25

Categories: Software Development :: Code Generators, Software Development
:: Compilers, Software Development :: Interpreters, Text Processing, Text
Processing :: Linguistic

About: ANTLR (ANother Tool for Language Recognition) is a language tool
that provides a framework for constructing recognizers, compilers, and
translators from grammatical descriptions containing C++, Java, or Sather
actions. It is similar to the popular compiler generator YACC, however
ANTLR is much more powerful and easy to use. ANTLR-produced parsers are not
only highly efficient, but are both human-readable and human-debuggable
(especially with the interactive ParseView debugging tool). ANTLR can
generate parsers, lexers, and tree-parsers in either C++, Java, or Sather.
ANTLR is currently written in Java.

Changes: This release has lots of bug fixes. The C++ code generator has
been greatly improved. Java output can do unicode now.

[007] - Aphid 0.13a
  by eScout Corp. (http://freshmeat.net/users/escoutsoftware/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 16:16

About: Aphid (the Apache/Perl HTTP Installation Daemon) provides a quick
facility for compiling and installing the Apache Web server with support
for SSL via mod_ssl, and with the embedded Perl interpreter provided by
mod_perl. It downloads, compiles, and installs the software into the
directory of your choice. Aphid places emphasis on providing an intuitive,
browser-based interface and keeping a tiny distribution footprint. To date
Aphid has been tested on Rehat Linux 6 and 6.2, FreeBSD 4.0, and Solaris
2.6 and 7.

Changes: Dependencies on the RSARef library have been removed. A problem
with blank lines with spaces slipping by the host queue regex has been
fixed. A numbering error in the log message when a remote file has to be
requeued for HTTP download has been corrected. The install writes its log
in the same directory as it's invoked (instead of under /lib/install).
Numerous third-party releases have been brought up to date with the
currently released stable version. The documentation has been edited.

[008] - Astaro Security Linux 1.950 (Beta)
  by astaro (http://freshmeat.net/users/astaro/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 05:22

Category: System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Astaro Security Linux is a new firewall solution. It does stateful
packet inspection filtering, content filtering, user authentication, virus
scanning, VPN with IPSec and PPTP, and much more. With its Web-based
management tool, WebAdmin, and the ability to pull updates via the
Internet, it is pretty easy to manage. It is based on a special hardened
Linux 2.4 distribution where most daemons are running in change-roots and
are protected by kernel capabilities.

Changes: Astaro Security Linux 2.0 BETA5 (1.950) updates the IPSec stack,
the tulip NIC driver, and the Up2Date process (much fewer messages).

[010] - batemail 0.7.0
  by Ryan (http://freshmeat.net/users/ryanvm/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 20:32

Category: Communications :: Email :: Filters

About: batemail is a Perl script that you slip between your MTA (e.g.
Sendmail) and your local mailer (e.g. Procmail) to strip potentially nasty
attachments from email messages. It takes input on STDIN, removes
executable MIME attachments, and gives the result to the local mailer. The
criteria for a taboo attachment are that the filename ends in one of
several "blacklisted" extensions (EXE, VBS, etc.).

Changes: This release marks the project's official transition from "alpha"
status to "beta". There has been a general clean-up performed on the source
code. Logging has also been improved to provide both more detail and finer
control over logging verbosity, and the blocked filename is reported in the
notice to the recipient.

Widget Sets

About: bigFORTH is a native code Forth. It was originally developed on the
Atari ST for the Motorola 68k processor and was recently ported to Intel
386, running under a DOS extender (GO32). bigFORTH is available for Linux
and Windows 95/98/NT in pre-beta-test. This version is available under GPL.
The most striking new feature is the graphical user interface MINOS and the
form editor Theseus. MINOS is a graphic user interface (GUI) for X, written
for bigFORTH-Linux and bigFORTH-Win32. It includes a rapid GUI developement
editor (Theseus).

Changes: This release includes further features from Gforth (directory
access, history file). Fixed a saving bug in the streamfile editor, as well
as bugs in open-file and resize-file. Fixes a bug in search, and added two
environmental queries: forthid gives "bigFORTH", and forthver ( -- major
minor minor-minor ).

[013] - bkcvs 0.1.2
  by Roland Riegel (http://freshmeat.net/users/rolandriegel/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 14:25

Categories: Software Development :: Build Tools, Software Development ::
Version Control :: CVS

About: bkcvs allows you to easily download the current KDE developer
sources from the CVS repository and compile them without any user
interaction. It automatically manages the source copy in a local directory,
and asks for several other options concerning your future KDE CVS install.
For example, you can specify which languages you want to use.

Changes: Packag names have been updated, and qt-copy downloading/compiling
has been fixed.

[014] - cexcept 2.0.0
  by Adam M. Costello (http://freshmeat.net/users/amc1804/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 18:04

About: cexcept (pronounced "see except" in English) is a package providing
a Try/Catch/Throw exception handling interface for ANSI C (C89 and
subsequent ISO standards). It does not attempt to handle "real" exceptions
like floating-point exceptions or addressing exceptions; it is intended as
an enhanced user-friendly alternative to setjmp() and longjmp().

Changes: The implementation no longer relies on a modification made to an
object between calls to setjmp() and longjmp(), which is not safe for
non-volatile automatic objects. The Catch expression is now evaluated only
after an exception is caught, instead of always being evaluated.

[017] - Common UNIX Printing System 1.1.10
  by Michael Sweet (http://freshmeat.net/users/easysw/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 16:09

Categories: Internet, Printing, Security, Software Development ::
Libraries

About: CUPS provides a portable printing layer for UNIX(r)-based operating
systems. It has been developed to promote a standard printing solution for
all UNIX vendors and users. CUPS provides the System V and Berkeley
commandline interfaces, uses the Internet Printing Protocol ("IPP") as the
basis for managing print jobs and queues, supports (with reduced
functionality) the Line Printer Daemon ("LPD"), Server Message Block
("SMB"), and AppSocket (a.k.a. JetDirect) protocols, and adds network
printer browsing and PostScript Printer Description ("PPD")-based printing
options to support real-world printing under UNIX. CUPS also includes a
customized version of GNU Ghostscript and an image file RIP that are used
to support non-PostScript printers. Sample drivers for HP and EPSON
printers are included that use these filters.

Changes: This release adds a new driver for Dymo label printers, a new
ClassifyOverride directive, a new BrowseProtocols directive, SLPv2 support,
and Asian language support in the PDF filter. It also fixes a number of
small bugs.

  Thursday, August 16th 2001 14:22

Categories: Games/Entertainment :: Puzzle Games, Scientific/Engineering ::
Mathematics, Security :: Cryptography

About: Crank is a project to provide a GUI toolkit to facilitate (and where
possible, automate) the breaking of classical (pen-and-paper)
cryptosystems. Initial focus is on the cryptanalysis of monoalphabetic
substitution ciphers.

Changes: Crank has been largely rewritten to support a componant
architecture, and this is the first release featuring this. It is hoped
that by splitting up the various cipher classes, cryptanalysis algorithms,
and plaintext evalution functions, code reuse can be maximised.

[020] - Cyrus IMAP server 2.0.16
  by ZapZap (http://freshmeat.net/users/zapzap/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 14:15

About: The Cyrus IMAP is generally intended to be run on sealed servers,
where normal users are not permitted to log in. The mailbox database is
stored in parts of the filesystem that are private to the Cyrus IMAP
system. All user access to mail is through the IMAP, POP3, or KPOP
protocols. The private mailbox database design gives the server large
advantages in efficiency, scalability, and administratability. Multiple
concurrent read/write connections to the same mailbox are permitted. The
server supports access control lists on mailboxes and storage quotas on
mailbox hierarchies, multiple SASL mechanisms, and the Sieve mail filtering
language.

Categories: Database, Database :: Database Engines/Servers, Software
Development :: Libraries

About: db4o (database for objects) is a Java object database. It features
automatic object recognition, query-by-example interface, and navigation.

[022] - dbXML Core 1.0b1
  by The dbXML Group (http://freshmeat.net/users/dbxml/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 02:14

About: dbXML is an open source Native XML Database. It stores and indexes
compressed XML documents in order to provide that data to a client
application with very little server-side processing overhead. It also
provides functionality that is unique to XML data, which can't easily be
reproduced by relational databases.

Changes: The dbXML Core has reached Beta status. The server is fully
functional, and the number of bugs should be minimal at this point. XPath
Namespace support added. XML:DB API up to date. New testing framework. Many
other minor bug fixes were made.

[023] - debfoster 2.1 (main)
  by guus (http://freshmeat.net/users/guus/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 02:06

Category: System :: Systems Administration

About: Most Debian application packages depend on other packages,
containing libraries or other utilities. When the application package is
removed, the dependencies will still linger on the system. Debfoster can
detect such "orphaned" dependencies and will clean them up. It can be used
as a front-end to apt or standalone.

Changes: This release merges patches from several users, improving control
over packages that have to be kept, and those which should explicitly not
be kept. It can now also detect dependency loops.

Categories: Multimedia :: Graphics, Multimedia :: Video :: Conversion

About: Drip is a DVD to divx conversion frontend and backend application
set. The frontend is GNOME based, and the backend encoding engine is a
textmode only tool. Using the GUI just makes it all easier, and adds some
logic, like automatic filenaming and subpicture detection. Drip does the
whole job in 1 go - no user interaction is needed during runtime.

Changes: This release fixes most of the problems reported, has all the
patches included, has new features like OpenDIVX support, has encoding
speedups, utilises libdvdcss, and has updated documentation.

  by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 12:59

Categories: Software Development, System :: Clustering/Distributed
Networks, System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: The FOLK project aims to provide a single patch which incorporates
as many Linux kernel projects as can be crammed in. Its goal is to allow
people who are interested in experimenting with the different projects to
get on with the experimenting, rather than spend time fixing clashing
diffs. It also has the goal of giving some of the more obscure projects a
better chance of being seen and used. It is not intended for "general use".
If a given release is stable, that will be by sheer luck. These are
experimental projects, of unknown quality and completeness, being thrown
together in ways that the developers are unlikely to have even remotely
considered.

Changes: This release was uograded to Alan Cox' -ac5. Some more obscure

[052] - Java Serialization to XML 0.8.19
  by Brendan Macmillan (http://freshmeat.net/users/yow/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 02:26

About: JSX provides your Java programs with XML persistence and
data-exchange for zero-effort. As a replacement for Java's own
Serialization, it works for all objects without any set-up. You need not
change your classes or design schema or write scripts (unlike design-time
solutions such as JAXB, Jato, and Castor). Other run-time solutions (such
as JOX and LTPforJB) only work for a subset of objects (e.g. Java Beans).
JSX works for all objects, handles evolution of classes, and needs no
design-time setup at all. It just works.

Changes: Control characters are now escaped in the unicode format that Java
uses (eg.\u0000 for null char). Now JSX output can be parsed by other XML
tools (SAX, DOM, XSLT etc), even with Java Strings including control
characters. NB: There is no XML standard for representing control
characters.

Changes: JSX is now 100% thread-safe.

[054] - JBidWatcher 0.5.1
  by Morgan Schweers (http://freshmeat.net/users/mrs/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 16:06

Category: Internet

About: JBidWatcher is a comprehensive auction site management program,
implemented in Java. Its features include monitoring of auctions, bidding,
sniping (automated bidding in the last moments of an auction), remote
Web-based management, XML-formatted save files, drag and drop support, and
many other useful features. It is compatible across multiple platforms, and
is known to work on Windows and Linux. Conceptually, JBidWatcher is
descended from the Bidwatcher program, but is a complete reimplementation
in Java using Swing. It even has a cool mascot named Jay Bidwatcher.

Changes: This release includes configurable snipe timers, minor changes to
eBay's format, toolbar, support for middle-button paste, monitoring of
selling auctions, much faster XML save-file loading, a firewall/web proxy
configuration screen, support for Canadian dollars, some major bugfixes,
and a lot of minor bugfixes. The program looks and acts a lot more polished
now.

[056] - jGnash 0.2.5
  by Craig Cavanaugh (http://freshmeat.net/users/ccavanaugh/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 14:11

Category: Office/Business :: Financial :: Accounting

About: jGnash is a personal finance application written in Java. JDK 1.3.x
or greater is required. jGnash has support for split transactions, nested
accounts, and currencies. jGnash can import QIF files excluding investment
accounts and transactions (this is being worked on for the next release).
Data is stored in an XML format so it is easy to manipulate and read the
data external to the program.

Changes: QIF import has been added, excluding investment accounts and
transactions. The internal data structures have been reorganized to reduce
memory usage and improve speed. There are miscellaneous GUI fixes and
improvements.

[057] - JSwat Java Debugger 1.3.2
  by Nathan Fiedler (http://freshmeat.net/users/nfiedler/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 02:12

About: jswat is a graphical, stand-alone Java debugger, using the JPDA
library. It offers all of the basic features you would expect from a
debugger. Breakpoints, source code viewing, single-stepping, watching
variables, viewing stack frames, and printing variables.

Changes: Added support for creating breakpoint groups. A group of
breakpoints can be disabled and enabled together. Groups may contain other
groups. Breakpoints now support the notion of expiration (dying after N
hits). Breakpoints can now skip over N hits before they begin stopping the
target VM. Local variables panel now updates when an object reference is
changed to point to another object of the same type. Source viewer was not
appearing when single stepping into a method. Other events would have also
failed to bring up the source code viewer.

About: KuickShow is a very fast image viewer that lets you easily browse
large galleries. A builtin filebrowser and manager is also available. Its
usage is somewhat inspired by ACDSee. It supports many file formats,
including JPEG, GIF, PNG, PSD, BMP, TIFF, XPM, XBM, XCF, EIM, etc. It can
zoom, mirror, rotate images, adjust brightness, contrast, and gamma, and do
a slideshow. It is fully configurable through dialogs. It offers a
filebrowser with basic filemanager capabilities like renaming, deleting,
creating directories, etc.

Changes: Now completely smooth, flicker-free switching between images and
zooming . Printing works now. Some shortcuts have been "inverted" (e.g. "b"
brightens now, shift-b darkens). Adopted kdelibs 2.2 - works better with
Multi-Head. Fixed a crash during zooming/switching images. Added Handcursor
from qwertz for moving images. Made ChangeLog readable by KHelpCenter.
Readded quit-button to toolbar - shows image size in the window caption.

  Thursday, August 16th 2001 16:07

About: Moodss (the Modular Object Oriented Dynamic SpreadSheet) displays
data described and updated in one or more modules loaded at startup time or
dynamically. Data is originally displayed in tables. Graphical viewers,
summary tables, free text viewers, and threshold entries can be created
from any number of table cells. Moodss has full drag'n'drop support in the
UI, and comes with numerous modules. New modules can be developed in Tcl,
Perl, Python, or C.

Changes: All data tables now feature thinner separation lines so that more
data can be visible in less display space. In thresholds and preferences
dialog boxes, the syntax of email adresses is checked and errors are
reported. The MySQL myvars module was updated to support the 3.23.41
server. This version requires the newest tkTable widget library version

[077] - MOSIX 1.2.2 for Linux 2.4.8 (Linux 2.4.*)
  by AB (http://freshmeat.net/users/amnon/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 21:08

Category: System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: MOSIX is a software package to enhance the Linux kernel with cluster
computing capabilities. It allows an arbitrarily-sized cluster of PCs to
work cooperatively as if part of a single system. To run in a MOSIX cluster
there is no need to modify applications, to link applications with any
library, or even to assign processes to different nodes. MOSIX does its job
automatically and transparently. The core of MOSIX are adaptive resource
management algorithms that monitor and respond to uneven work distribution
among the nodes. These algorithms use preemptive process migration to
assign and reassign processes among the nodes, to continuously take
advantage of the best available cluster resources. The MOSIX algorithms are
geared for maximal performance, overhead-free scalability, and ease of use.

[100] - Sophie 1.20a1 (Development)
  by Vanja Hrustic (http://freshmeat.net/users/vanja/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 12:55

Categories: Security, System

About: Sophie is a daemon which uses 'libsavi' library from Sophos anti
virus vendor ( http://www.sophos.com ). On startup, Sophie initializes SAPI
(Sophos Anti-Virus Interface), loads virus patterns into memory, opens
local UNIX domain socket, and waits for someone to connect and instructs it
which path to scan. Since the database is loaded in RAM, scanning is very
fast. (Note: speed of scanning also depends on SAVI settings and size of
the file.) It works on Linux, Solaris (Sparc/x86), HP-UX, and FreeBSD. It
was made as a part of 'Virge' project, which is a mail/attachment/virus
scanning tool, written in C.

[102] - Str 0.9.5
  by Ralf S. Engelschall (http://freshmeat.net/users/rse/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 16:03

About: The Str library is a generic string handling library written in ANSI
C which provides functions for handling, matching, parsing, searching, and
formatting of C strings. It can be considered as a superset of POSIX
string(3), but its main intention is to provide a more convinient and
compact API and a more generalized functionality.

Changes: The return code documentation of str_parse has been fixed.
str_base64() correctly honors the specified maximum size of the input
string. GNU Autoconf 2.52, GNU Libtool 1.4, and GNU shtool 1.5.4 are now
used, as well as a stripped down version of PCRE 3.5. Handling of NaN and
Inf values in str_format() and an unsigned vs. signed problem in str_span()

[103] - Stunnel 3.20
  by Michal Trojnara (http://freshmeat.net/users/mtrojnar/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 02:11

Category: Security :: Cryptography

About: The stunnel program is designed to work as an SSL encryption wrapper
between remote client and local (inetd-startable) or remote server. It can
be used to add SSL functionality to commonly used inetd daemons like POP2,
POP3, and IMAP servers without any changes in the programs' code. It will
negotiate an SSL connection using the OpenSSL or SSLeay libraries. It calls
the underlying crypto libraries, so stunnel supports whatever cryptographic
algorithms you compiled into your crypto package.

Changes: setsockopt() optlen set according to the optval for Solaris. Minor
NetBSD compatibility fixes. Minor MSVC6 compatibility fixes. SSL
close_notify timeout reduced to 10 seconds of inactivity. Socket close
instead of reset on close_notify timeout. Some source arrangement, and
minor bugfixes have also been made.

[104] - Tapestry 1.0.5
  by Howard Ship (http://freshmeat.net/users/hship/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 16:49

Categories: Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content, Software Development

About: Tapestry is a rich, component-based object model for developing
dynamic, highly interactive Web applications. It simplifies Web application
development by organizing an application into pages of components. Tapestry
takes care of all the "plumbing" of a Web application, including generating
URLs and responding to links and form submissions. This means that the code
written by developers is almost all application specific. Tapestry includes
a complete Java build environment, based on GNU Make, extensive
documentation, and tutorial/demonstration source code.

Changes: This release reworks the visual layout of the homepage and the
Virtual Library demonstration. It adds helper beans, a way to extend the
behavior of a component by aggregation (instead of inheritance).

  Thursday, August 16th 2001 16:30

Categories: Software Development :: Code Generators, Software Development
:: Compilers

About: "Compiler" has been developed to compile script applications. To
compile means creating syntactically correct and optimized code as a native
executable. The goal is to give the customer the ability to sell script
based software with the same security and speed as traditional projects,
but with the flexibility and the easyness of a modern script based
technology. "Compiler" focus on Tcl and C, with the possibility to add
additional languages.

Changes: This release has a full rewrite of the memory management engine,
and provides ~25% less memory usage and a strong increase in startup speed.
This is due to the repository and the libAgent* interface.

printouts as well as high-speed text documents. It provides printer
drivers for almost every inkjet printer, e.g. Canon BJC / S, Epson Stylus
Color & Photo, HP DeskJet. All printer features are supported.
TurboPrint comes with its own color matching system "TrueMatch". High
quality color profiles ensure optimum color reproduction on all print
media (glossy paper, inkjet paper, ...). A comfortable GUI configuration
menu and a printer toolbox (head cleaning, alignment, ink quantity) are
included. The FreeEdition of TurboPrint can be obtained free of charge.
It contains almost the full functionality. The full version can be
obtained for a licence fee of EUR 19.95 (DM 39 / approx. US$ 19) which
additionally contains color profiles for special print media.

Changes: This release adds support for the CUPS printing system and a Canon
S600 driver.

[115] - TwoFTPd 1.11 (Stable)
  by Bruce Guenter (http://freshmeat.net/users/bruceguenter/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 13:05

Category: Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

About: Twoftpd is an FTP server that strives to be secure, simple, and
efficient. None of the commands can cause execution of other programs, and
the normal model of execution does a chroot to the logged in user's
directory immediately after authentication. The name "twoftpd" comes from
the fact that there are two parts to the server: an authenticating front
end, which contains no file or data transfer code, and one of two back
ends, which contain all the data transfer code.

Changes: A nasty omission with retrieving files larger than 4KB in ASCII
mode was fixed.

Category: Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: ViewKlass is a C++ framework for developing applications that use
the LessTif or OSF/Motif(tm) user interface toolkits. In particular it
provides classes that support the creation of reusable components. It
also provides classes that encapsulate some of the more difficult and
tedious aspects of Motif development. These include classes to handle the
creation of windows, dialogs, and menus. ViewKlass is an open source
implementation of SGI's ViewKit(tm), and should eventually become source
code compatible with a large subset of of that API.

Changes: This is the first release of ViewKlass. It includes many bug
fixes, feature enhancements, and new class implementations compared to the
original Hungry Programmers ViewKit code from which it is derived.

[125] - xinetd 2.3.1
  by Steve Grubb (http://freshmeat.net/users/stevegrubb/)
  Thursday, August 16th 2001 16:09

About: xinetd is a replacement for inetd, the internet services daemon.
Anybody can use it to start servers that don't require privileged ports
because xinetd does not require that the services in its configuration file
be listed in /etc/services. It can do access control on all services based
on the address of the remote host and time of access. Access control works
on all services, whether multi-threaded or single-threaded and for both the
TCP and UDP protocols. xinetd supports both internal access control, and
the use of the libwrap library. IPv6 with access control is also
supported.

Changes: The codebase has been reworked from top to bottom. Many little
bugs were fixed.
