It seems like people are making this issue harder than it needs to be. Here
is what I did (in the m4 file). Host name is "Moonlight."

divert(0)dnl
VERSIONID(`@(#)moonlight.mc 8.3 (Berkeley) 3/23/96')
OSTYPE(solaris2.ml)dnl
DOMAIN(generic)dnl
MASQUERADE_AS(ptes.com)dnl
MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(Moonlight)
MAILER(local)dnl
MAILER(smtp)dnl

This way all users on the host "Moonlight" are masked as "ptes.com."
