hello mailing list,

i've got some problems using dri/drm on my notebook. here the details:

graphic chip: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M6 LY
os: debian gnu/linux testing
xfree86: XFree86 Version 4.2.1.1
kernel: 2.4.20 (gcc 3.2)

the radeon.o module, including by the default kernel source (2.4.20) wont 
work, cause "version > 1.1 is required".

so tried the radeon.o module from dri.sourceforge.net - seems to work (module 
is loadable), but opengl doesnt work. each application using opengl like 
glxgears or billard-gl crashes (wont start) with the message:

Radeon DRI driver:
        Compatibility mode for DRM driver version 1.1.1
        TCL will be disabled, expect reduced performance
        (prefer DRM radeon.o 1.3.x or newer)
        disabling TCL support
glxgears: radeon_ioctl.h:168: radeonAllocCmdBuf: Assertion 
`rmesa->dri.drmMinor >= 3' failed.

.... after a few minutes, the kernel crashed:
