Update:

quake3 is only 6-8 fps slower with latest code (today).
Yesterday's code was fast as before.
UT was fast as before with yesterday's code.
Now it is faster in some scenes but badly stuttering in other.

Pro:
* performance counter works right, mostly
* gears somewhat faster, performance counter OK

3133 frames in 5.006 seconds = 625.849 FPS
3843 frames in 5.001 seconds = 768.446 FPS
3908 frames in 5.000 seconds = 781.600 FPS
3859 frames in 5.000 seconds = 771.800 FPS
3853 frames in 5.000 seconds = 770.600 FPS

* gloss back to "normal", performance counter appear on several places

1520 frames in 5.005 seconds = 303.696 FPS
2096 frames in 5.01 seconds = 418.363 FPS
2121 frames in 5 seconds = 424.2 FPS
2112 frames in 5.011 seconds = 421.473 FPS
2106 frames in 5 seconds = 421.2 FPS
2123 frames in 5 seconds = 424.6 FPS

Con:
I can not move trispd, ipers or the like => hang.
With the former code I could kill the X server (SYSRQ+K).
Now I have to reboot (SYSRQ+B).

I'll try with 2.4.19-rc3-aa4 with and without SMP, now.
