LEGITIMATE DEBATE. As Felten's case shows, automatically blaming anyone who publicly \
shows how to break copyright-protection systems, rather than taking a good look at \
how that circumvention technology is being used, implicitly assumes that the only \
reason to create or use such technology is for piracy, never for fair use or true \
scientific research.

It takes imagination to understand the broad implications that the DMCA could have, \
as electronic distribution of music, videos, and publications increases. Without some \
understanding the underlying issues, it's hard to understand why the Sklyarov case is \
important. However, it's entirely worth the effort.
