Try writing an /etc/dhclient.conf file that looks like this:

interface "eth0" {
  send dhcp-client-identifier 1:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx;
  send host-name "myhostname";
}

If you subscribed to Bellsouth and successfully set up an account
using WIN95, for "myhostname" put in the name that appears in the
Win95 Identification dialog.   If not, just put your machine's
hostname.   In any case, for xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, put your ethernet
address.
