I used the default xinitrc from /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc. There was 
something like
twm&
xclock&
...some xterms&
exec xterm -name login&    -> i think with "exec" X11 should run until
                               this xterm ends (but i'm not sure)

I had no problems with this chipset under RedHat and my previous Knoppix 
installation (386 optimized) with that nvidia driver.
