Please see the docs regarding Actions. They enable you to create scripts and 
bind a key. Now if you stop thinking in terms of keystrokes and think in 
terms of what you want to do you could...

- use sed to replace \n with a space in a selected block (in fact you could 
even do this with the find and replace using regexp)

- use DCOP to move the cursor

This is really just some of the possiblities. You could create a script that 
removes returns unless they are attached to tags for instance.
