1) what is the quanta version you are using?
2) you have to compile with --enable-debug=full from source to have 
useful debug information (you have to pass this to the ./configure 
command)
3) turn on the debug area for Quanta in kdebugdialog
4) run quanta inside gdb with:
gdb quanta
run
(when hangs, stop it with CTRL-C)
bt

Send us the generated backtrace.

And of course the best if you could give us a minimal testcase that can 
be used to reproduce the problem with a detailed description how to do 
it.
