You can divert all output to a file for any process like so...
make > make.out
This will mean you don't see anything.

If you have a previous version of kdewebdev installed you can also use "Simple 
Installer" which is a Kommander program I wrote. It will assist and manage 
compiles allowing you to automatically set environments and log what has been 
compiled as well as record data. I should update it, but it's really nice for 
people who have never compiled programs. Several developers wives 
successfully compiled their first programs with it. ;-)
