Forget everything. (Well most of it) The files were getting uploaded to the 
server. It just that they were getting uploaded into a different directory! 

Two things bother me. First the problem with the debugging, but we can leave 
that for another days.

The second thing is that the same configuration worked for Quanta 3.1. At 
least I think so. There are a number of files that I changed prior to the 
upgrade that have the new version on the server. Thus, it would appear that 
Quanta 3.4 uploaded them.
