How do you mean clever?  at the moment it works in the same way as other 
placement policies (IIRC only gets called at all when new windows opened that 
aren't transient and dont have settings already saved).  Admittedly, after 
having been using it for a month now I'd like to add some jitter to it - so 
when I open lots of the same sort of window they aren't all in exactly the 
same position

Too true!  More intelligence in it is perhaps needed though - I'm planning on 
experimenting a bit with perhaps a 'centered-random' placement or a 
'centered-but-not-exactly-on-the-window-underneath' policy.  Getting a bit 
extreme I know, but I havent scratched my itch yet, so to speak...
