Summary: browsing samba shares, smbfs takes too long
           Product: konqueror
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Gentoo Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: konq-bugs kde org
        ReportedBy: tmpfreire terra com br

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc 3.4.3
OS: Linux

I have a heterogeneous environment here, and a vpn to another Windows network.
Browsing using konqueror takes 2-5x times longer to display stuff than Windows \
Explorer. Why does it happen? I have tried disabling pop-up hints and icon previews, \
but it still takes much longer than windows. Worse, when it has to list folders with \
many files, it "freezes". It's not actually frozen like 'the app is dead', it just \
stops responding while it fetches information and stops repainting, until it can list \
everything. it is a very sluggish feeling workflow. I tried accessing using smb:// \
urls as well as mounting the remote system, but the result is the same. teh windows \
traffic and teh konqueror traffic all go throug the same router. \
