| Hmm. You might like to check out some of the other tests out there
|   already.
|
|   E.g., the 2000+ tests here http://www.richinstyle.com/test/

Thanks for reference. I never heard about this site, so it will be
interesting for me to see it.
|
| Also, all but one of your statements are invalid:
|
|     P { font-family:"Arial Black, geneva, helvetica, sans-serif";
| font-size:96 }
|
| * DIMEN token requires unit; should be 96px.
| * Can't quote all those fonts as one value -
| "Arial Black", "Geneva", "Helvetica" is valid, but how you have it is
| not. * Geneva and Helvetica require capitals, since the CSS spec states
| that font matching is case sensitive
|
Well, I'd like to clarify here that my intent was not to write *perfect*,
fully W3C-compliant page, which will be rendered correctly on everything, but
something  real-life style.
/and many statements are *not* my statements, but somebody else statements
;-) /
For your info, here is how I did several tests:
-run Allaire HomeSite (4.5)
-run TopStyle CSS editor
-take CSS font description tag
Allaire HomeSite offer exactly  font-family:"Arial, helvetica, sans-serif";
So, it's created in this way by HomeSite, not by me. Please report this as a
bug to them. (www.allaire.com)

Re: 96 vs. 96px vs 96pt
-MS IE renders it correctly.
-And, huge number of pages have just 96, not 96pt or 96px
-adding 96pt or 96px doesn't help Netscape or Opera

And final note, for anti-Microsoft fighters: idea of this page taken from
Microsoft Typography site.
I just cleaned extra tabs, menus, etc., so that page total size just around
1K now.
Please report this as a bug to Microsoft Typography site.

And, I can add here, that if you take MS FrontPage and generate some pages
with it, you will really have *BAD* html; Allaire HomeSite is rather
platform-independent, that's why I use it occasionally.
Another way to get bad HTML - Save As file from MS Word 2000.
Just try it once, and you will see what' it is all about.
My simple word document increased in size from 20K to 50K, not to mention
mso- addons in Style definitions.

|     P { fontfamily:"Arial", "helvetica", "sans-serif"; fontsize:96 }
|
| * Sans-serif, as a CSS keyword, may not be quoted
-> Allaire
|   * font-family, not fontfamily

Added for Netscape 4.75 compatibility. Sorry.. Report this as a bug to
Netscape :-)

|   * 96px
|
|     P.highlight { color:silver }
|   P.shadow { color:darkred }
|
| * both invalid - browsers are only required, as named keywords, the 16
| Windows VGA colo(u)rs

No idea. I guess it was in this way in one of examples taken by me.
I corrected it to .highlight on other pages.

|     P { color: "#6666DD"  }
|     P.highlight { color:'#6666FF' }
|
|   Can't quote CSS; only non-CSS things - should be color: #6666dd.
|
well, for MS IE this works.
Thanks, indeede, I will make slightly updated page with this correction and
check it once more.
May be, it will help Opera & Konqueror to pass some tests.

|     P.shadow { color:darkred }
|
|   Not required by CSS.
|
|     P { font-family:"Arial Black, arial, geneva, helvetica, sans-serif";
| font-size:96 } P { fontfamily:"Arial Black","Arial", "geneva", "helvetica",
| "sans-serif"; fontsize:96 }
|
<cut>
|     P.highlight { color:'#6666FF' }
|     P.shadow { color:darkred }
|
|   All invalid; see above.

see above my answer as well.
|
|   <DIV STYLE="position:absolute; top:300; left:5; width:300; height:50;
| margin:10"> <DIV STYLE="position:absolute; top:5; left:5; width:600;
| height:100; margin:10"> <DIV STYLE="position:absolute; top:0; left:0;
| width:600; height:100; margin:10"> <DIV STYLE="position:absolute; top:2;
| left:2; width:600; height:100; margin:10">
|
| All invalid; a unit is compulsory.
|
|   I got bored there.

If you do not mind - write this to Wrox Press, who publish different books on
programming. And on HTML/JavaScript as well.
I guess correct URL is: www.wrox.co.uk, or www.wrox.com
(book reference was 0685, if I remember correctly)
This example was taken from one of their book. I hope there is nothing
copyrighted here, so I feeled free to make some modifications and check
what's wrong.

By the way, if you Edit tag (pressing RMB, ok) in Allaire Home Site, than put
updated tag , it will not change these DIV tags.
So, again, you can forward your mail to Allaire.

FINAL NOTE:
My intent was to help with Konqueror development, as I beleive it is the most
promising browser at a moment.
It would be very kind of you if you test these 2000 tests on
http://www.richinstyle.com/test/ with Konqueror, and report tracked-down bug
to bugs.kde.org. You can report bugs just sending mail to Bugs Submit
<submit@bugs.kde.org>, with message body:
Package: khtml
Version: 2.0 (using KDE 2.0)
Severity: normal

followed by description of problem and suggested solution.

Thanks indeed for your mail, I'll see your site today or tomorrow.
