Yes.  

install redhat 5.1/5.2 libungif, libungif-devel, ligungif-progs RPM packages


(1) kalendar may need to be updated?
  kdesupport tarballs now come with libgif 3.0 in the 
kdesupport/gliflib30  subdirectory


(2)  If you are using the kdesupport-1.1pre*-*rh5x.i386.rpm
RPM packages. the dont contain libgif at all, bexcause they
build kdesupport using ./configure --without-libgif

This is because the RedHat libungif   RPM package (RH5.2, RH5.1 jpeg updates)
supplies libgig-3.0

If Kalendar is being maintained, it should build with the appropriate
redhat packages  for gif installed.
libungif
libungif-devel   << you definately need this for compiling Kalendar
and perhaps
libungif-progs
giftrans
