I've tried "find * .xinitrc" and nothing turns up, is that Mostly, files that start with a period (such as .xinitrc) are special files for specific applications (somewhat like *.INI files in Windows) as to what behaviors to do, what commands to run, and so forth. Sometimes (as in /etc/X11/xinit) there are samples of these, but as it is strictly a user selection (some programs create their 'dot-files') when first run by a user as well) you wouldn't find them installed as such on a new install. In your case, you could simply copy /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc to /home/user/.xinitrc, and modify .xinitrc as needed. Some of these 'dotfiles' will be created when you make a new user on your system too. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ David E.
