Right. I find those quite useful, if only so that the local source layout 
created by kdesrc-build is usable.
It allows to do things like "rebuild all of kdepim" by typing 
`kdesrc-build kde/pim`, extremely useful.

[On the other hand, having to look for kio-extras in kdenetwork when looking 
for kio_thumbnail is most definitely weird]. But that's just a categorization 
error :-)
