Me? I don't consider something as small as flag icons worth *my* extra
time/effort to package separately (whether it's in another repo or not),
but if it's that important to you, go for it, knock yourself out.

Hello,

Everytime I logout of KDE-3.5.6, my screen goes blank and then locks
up after a few seconds. I am trying to determine if this is a kde or
video driver problem. Any suggestions?

The current system already uses a set of symbols for languages. When a
one-to-one mapping between languages and national flags are possible and
uncontroversial, use a symbol that strongly resemble those flags....

E.g. In Denmark there is one official language (danish), and that language is
the official language only in Denmark. The danish flag (Dannebrog) has been
the defacto symbol for both the country and the language for more than two
hundred years. No need to invent a new symbol.

Other languages, say english, are used as official language in several
countries (albeight they've forked the standards). Some countries, like
India, have several official languages. And let's not even get anywhere near
the dispute over one or two Chinas, that really needs to be handled outside
kde &/ fedora. (Although a few coders probably could resolve the issue a lot
faster than hundreds of politicians....)

So clearly this does not work everywhere, but that's no real reason to not use
national flags in the simple, uncontroversial cases.

Besides, if the keyboard layout indicator really really REALLY has to avoid
national flags for whatever reason, then it should use real text instead of
bitmaps, so the user can fix readability issues - like the clock.

/Bent

I still get the conflict today. Do I need to remove the non-free and restart
again?

Maybe you are experiencing this:

  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=224260

it got fixed for me by xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.1.1-47.6.fc6, but it was
sporadic to begin with.

Also: are you using freetype with BCI enabled from Avi Alkalay's site ? I
flipped back and forth with using it while experiencing that bug, but I was
unable to decide whether it made any difference.

It seems something is not quite right yet ...

Transaction Check Error: file /usr/lib64/kde3/kfile_mp3.so from install of
kdemultimedia-extras-3.5.6-5.fc6 conflicts with file from package
kdemultimedia-extras-nonfree-3.5.6-1.fc6

Should I report this ... where ?

Odd, it's an actual file conflict.

Transaction Check Error: file /usr/lib64/kde3/kfile_mp3.so from install of
kdemultimedia-extras-3.5.6-5.fc6 conflicts with file from package
