  Yes, you can:
> list ffmpeg*
Installed Packages
ffmpeg.i386                              0.4.9-0.23.20060817.lv installed
Available Packages
ffmpeg-devel.i386                        0.4.9-0.23.20060817.lv livna
ffmpeg-libpostproc.i386                  0.4.9-0.5.20060317.fc5 freshrpms

  To do this you need to disable freshrpms while installing the packages, then
it will work.

  This is the only conflict I had, and this was the strategy followed to solve
it.

Why don't you guys just change freshrpms.repo (See last line)?

[~]$ cat /etc/yum.repos.d/freshrpms.repo
# $Id: freshrpms.repo 3341 2005-06-28 18:40:26Z thias $
[freshrpms]
name=Fedora Core $releasever - $basearch - Freshrpms
#baseurl=http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/$releasever/$basearch/freshrpms/
mirrorlist=http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/$releasever/mirrors-freshrpms
enabled=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-freshrpms
gpgcheck=1
exclude=ffmpeg

Because it only happens once, and I am lazy. :-)

BTW in the line above it is better to use:
exclude=ffmpeg*

to exclude ffmpeg-libpostproc as well.

Thanks Everyone!

The final summary that made things work:

1. add the line "exclude=ffmpeg*" to /etc/yum.repos.d/freshrpms.repo
2. yum install amarok-extras-nonfree
3. yum install kdemultimedia-extras-nonfree

Then I cleaned out ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc and ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok (just in case).

Started amarok. Check the engine settings which showed the xine engine, which I kept.

And it works now.

Regards,
Allen
