Hi Rex,

I solved the problem of my CentOS 4.2 servers not showing the Control Panel
exept kisnddock.
It was my mistake. We are using our CentOS servers mainly as NX
terminalservers serving 250 users.
To reach a certain amount of locking of settings and desktop policies we ar=
e
using Kiosktool.
To get the menus working I usually rename all kde based menu entries to
*.org.
In KDE 3.5 the menu structure has been changed.

So, the solution for Kiosktool, KDE menus and CentOS en KDE 3.5 :

rename all but kde-settings.menu and applications-merged\kde-essentials.men=
u
to *.org

KControl works and the menus in kiosktool also will work.

With kind regards,

Jasper van der Marel

WORKSFORME. Perhaps you hit us when I was adding packages to the repo
and the indexes were rebuilding.

Rex: Could you tell me what your Samba packages include, or add. You made a
comment about some 'features' being not included in the Samba packages from
Fedora, over on the Fedora list. My wish-list would include a basic
configuration that just 'works' when turned on, or that includes templates
that could be applied to various situations - excuse me if my terminology is
not quite right. I have been using a fair number of distros of late, and both
MEPIS and PCLinuxOS install with Samba turned on and working. If you install
the machines on a Windows network, a couple of clicks have you browsing any
Windows shares available in seconds. Trying to get it right with Fedora has
been an exercise in frustration for me. I have it working now, but, I
couldn't possibly replicate what I did, simply - there were several huge
threads over on the FC list on this, and everyone was chiming in with often
conflicting suggestions. I've even got the entire Samba HowTo printed out,
all 1100 pages +. But, I still find the interfaces and documentation
confusing, and counter-intuitive.

2. missing feature(s): --with-shared-modules=idmap_ad,idmap_rid (only
in rawhide/development, at the moment).

- Updated the -warnings patch for 3.0.20a.

I'd suggest submitting an enhancement request (for samba) to
