If cut, paste, copy worked consistently between KDE applications -- I'd be
happy! :D

Here is a screen-shot comparison between Whistler (beta) and KDE 2...

Too often, I hear Linux users and developers say (or imply) "I think it
should be this way since Microsoft does it that way..." However, I'd like
to see KDE/Linux flourish... with new users and new development.

New users want some degree (probably a *lot*) of familiarity. They are
probably already comfortable with Microsoft's look and feel and their
products (the good as well as the bad) -- however, in reference to the good,
they probably want cut/copy/paste to work between all applications, a
Word-compatible word processor, a very nice web browser that isn't a hog and
displays everything properly, a decent e-mail client, easy "no brainer"
software installations, easy driver upgrades and new hardware installs...
all of this wrapped-up in a professional, clean, uncluttered interface.

I think it'd be nice if KDE developers would notice the font selection, font
size, color scheme, icons used, icon sizes, the spacing between icons/items,
etc. from Whistler's GUI... and make changes to KDE that would improve its
overall look and feel.

As far as encouraging new KDE / Linux developers, I'd like to see a
development web site that rivals what Sun has done with their Java
development website..... tutorials, tools, examples, forums, search, etc.

http://java.sun.com/
http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/?frontpage-main
http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/

As well as what Microsoft has done, with their online MSDN and code
examples.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/default.asp
http://msdn.microsoft.com/windows2000/default.asp

Maybe Linux and KDE development could be further encouraged with a website
with all of the above functionality and features....
