Or extend the linear gamma to -0.5 to 7.5 ? No ? As far as krita is concerned, 
since we use it only with integers, we are always in the range 0.0 ... 1.0, so 
whether the profile is linear in the range -0.5 ... 7.5  or 0.0 ... 1.0 does 
not matter much for us.
