I still have no idea what the release schedule for Koffice might be.

1. Regarding Shaheed's original message which started this thread, as
krayon is now built by default with the rest of koffice I can move the
filters we now have (for all common image types) out of kimageshop and
into koffice/filters using the standard protocol for filters - probably
during the first two weeks of Jan. They work well but need to be put
into the standard format used by koffice filters. Also I'll be adding a
filter for xcf (gimp) files which have a very similar format to ours.
It is not possible for me to do anything with Shaheed's MS import for
images interface until the filters are there in
koffice/filters/kimageshop for common formats, or to open a file by
importing. Right now I can import a number of formats into an existign
krayon doc and a krayon image in these formats (jpg, gif import, png,
xpm, bmp).

2. I will need a rough idea of a planned release date to decide on a
stopping point, and completely agree with Laurent about the need to add
things beyond the kde 2.1 release date. Rather than add more and more
features, though, I'd like to get the things we now have finished up and
documented and tested more. David Johnson is comming along with the
documentation and sent me a draft today of the docbook with images.

We should definitely have all the basic drawing tools, layers and
channels and color selectors, brushes and patterns tools also. It's
about 75% to that point right now and needs at least another month or 6
weeks.

Last time I corresponded with Werner he didn't know the next release
date for Koffice. I'm guessing mid-March, because of the extensive
rework of kword which will need a lot of testing. Any ideas, anyone?

John
