  Well, the story behind ">>=" is that it is supposed to be used as an
assignment, which means a low priority operator. If they would have
overwritten >> that would have higher priority than the arithmetics and
"be confusing". Anyhow, people who rely on priority details to save some
lines in the sourcecode are confusing enough, but whatever, this was the
OMG's reasoning :-)
