In most cases, it's enhancements to the functionality Qt offers, adding 
methods to do something common, convenience API, integration on a higher level 
with other bits found in kdelibs, filling in features that are lacking in Qt.

For the "missing stuff", the Frameworks5 effort also aims at merging this 
functionality into Qt itself where possible. This is not an option in all 
cases, but surely a step in the right direction.

This is best discused with concrete examples, which can then be tacklet 
individually, general statements make little sense here, as the general 
direction is rather clear with the devil being in the details.
