Not sure how much your fan eats, but it's a rule of thumb that doing a task= on=20 the CPU very fast and then sleeping for as long as possible is way more eff= icient=20 than spreading the work over a longer period of time, working a little less= hard. Basically, the difference between a sleeping CPU and an active CPU is huge,= while=20 the difference between a fully active CPU and a throttled one is nearly lin= ear=20 (not an order of magnitude different, in any event). Thermal management is a valid reason, though in most cases cleaning out the= =20 system fan will give you both, longer battery life *and* a more silent syst= em. :) =2D-=20 sebas http://www.kde.org | http://vizZzion.org | GPG Key ID: 9119 0EF9=20 --nextPart1958764.k9DvTTtknP Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iQEcBAABAgAGBQJLlUuZAAoJEGdNh9WRGQ75AKUIAK+OVfaoFPkYlW8WWszwajvo VvpqNNhcvAPrt3L//HTDVZRmmq2glEdnggA69RLfba4PCzI4BkZxbse0x/TCooku HWoSsi9WBDAuXrXx+Ex6WrNdPltygfY+QxEH/V6bQKThGgcuos9JxZcmussrWPon 8SaDJ1DuVCR1us/KMfUNcw8Im3th/xTEwjelISoksaxZ1EbkgC3z81IgPBaIQ9uz ZGZxysafBWO+7GjOwcR7PhQQNNtyKfKrouigFXDYCC667CAihbNmmKorybpNtwVW QuNJo+l/PJQofJLNaagQjSOUGgSI5YcfvKYh2cStEDGUTjI1UvNICtnJ/AH+cUk= =vFl4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart1958764.k9DvTTtknP-- --===============1919261362== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline >> Visit http://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-devel#unsub to unsubscribe << --===============1919261362==--
