This would be great.

This is exactly what I need for my current project.
The only thing that's still missing is that you can put the tabbar on the left 
and right side of the tabwidget.
I'm using the tabwidget of the KitClasses 
(http://kinterdev.sf.net/kitclasses/) at the moment which I had to modify a 
bit to get a context-menu for the active tab.
