This is how khtml works, unfortunately! Previously, khtml printed the
HTML page background, leading to large ink waste on pages with dark
background. Then khtml was slightly changed to not print the background
if requested, and an option was added in the print dialog. The problem
is then that if khtml doesn't use the HTML page background, then it
uses the System background (ColorGroup::Base). This is usually white
and is not a problem, but with color schemes where the base color
is not white, you still get a printed background.
This is completely out of my control and you should report this to the
khtml developers.
