Hmm, I've never liked the idea of [fish/ssh]ing to localhost; doesn't that 
feel hackish to anyone else?

Would it be possible to create a lighter su:/ IO slave for this purpose?  
(Even if this was really just fish behind the scenes this would look nicer.)
