Maybe for the obvious reason; Akademy is a conference that is about KDE and 
related technologies. Canonical is not.

Your question is a bit odd, really.  What you are scolding people for is 
that they didn't try to get people more excited about a competing stack of 
software that is not KDE and doesn't not use KDE technologies.

So, in short, you blame them for NOT trying to distract KDE people from 
KDE?
