uhm... so... now it's taking *less* space than necessary. :)
I'm not sure if this commit caused it, but when my clock is showing the 
timezone, the time and date overlap a little and the top few pixels of the 
time are cut off.
oh, it fixed itself when I made my (vertical) panel wider so that the date 
could fit on one line. looks *perfect* at this width.

random extra note: the "show timezone" checkbox in the config is always 
checked. it doesn't actually turn off.
