Log Message:
new layouting scheme. Should fix lot's of slowdowns in layouting
(probably 20-50% faster), but currently introduces some regressions.
You will see some layouting problems for now. Most of them go away with
a small resize. 

The remaining problems will hopefully be fixed in the next few days.
