For me the way the date/time is displayed on the panel has always been my pet
peeve with Plasma 5. This can now be changed to show the date/time in any way
you want (how it always used to be) by installing the "Event Calendar" widget
as a replacement for the standard calendar.
The Event Calendar widget has all sorts of extra goodies too. Check it out! :-)
