Based on your description, this is a problem with KColorDialog. Reassigned
accordingly. (You can verify by trying in a color picker somewhere else, e.g.
in kolourpaint.)

That said, I'm unabled to reproduce (in color kcm or elsewhere) using KDE
4.12.5.
