I have confirmed that this bug is caused by a bug in TagLib and it is not
amarok's fault.

I have traced the issue back to Issue #308 in TagLib github repository
(https://github.com/taglib/taglib/issues/308) and confirmed that pull #309 
solves the problem.

Also created a bug in debian to let mantainer know about the problem. (
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=730206 )
