Subject: Bug#45239: No easy way to find events with sounds in system notifications folder. FILTER?
From: mmh () gmx ! net
Date: 2002-07-15 14:37:11
[Download RAW message or body]
Package: kcmknotify
Version: KDE 3.0.6
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: SuSE
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.18-4GB
OS/Compiler notes:
kcmnotify makes simple tasks very hard.
What do users want in kcmnotify? Change sounds.
Why? To turn off/change an annoying sound notification.
kcmnotify does not offer an easy way to find out which events have a sound associated \
with them. You have to open every single entry of the event notification tree to find \
out,if it has a sound associated with it.
Even if a persistent and smart power user knows that only kwin can be responsible, he \
still has to pick the right out of 26 (!!!) different events.
Thus my proposal: Implement a filter
Offer a tree showing only the events with an associated sound. One way to do this \
would be via a (activated by default) checkbox. Offer another filter, showing only \
the events without any notification.
Another proposal:
Hide the other notification options in an Advanced Tab. By default only two events \
(fatal application errors) have a dialog box associated with them).
