Package: kded
Version: KDE 3.0.0
Severity: normal
Installed from:    SuSE
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.4.18-4GB
OS/Compiler notes:

How to drive a man insane...

OK, SuSE-8.0 starts kde via a symlink:
/usr/X11R6/bin/kde

This points to
/opt/kde3/bin/startkde

If for any reason this symlink points to

//opt/kde3//bin/startkde

[NOTE THE DOUBLE SLASHES!}
you get the weirdest of all bugs, kded is stuck, dcopserver crashes and so on.
I spent over 10 h to get my KDE3 working, I erased all of KDE .kde and so on, until I \
found some news post about these double slashes, so I am not the only one affected.

(German:)
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=de&lr=&selm=fivb9a.m31.ln%40linux.local

This is a grave misbehaviour of KDE as in unix extra slashes should not make a \
difference.

(Called from KBugReport dialog. Fields Application manually changed)
