Why not treat the different programs as modules under one main program, as
e.g. in
KCM. There exist several ways to reach tis:

1) every modules is implemented as CORBA module, but I don't know if
KORBA/KOP is ready for the task
2) every module is implemented as a shared library with a special
interface. I suppose this could be done, but unfortunately some Unices
doesn't have neither ELF nor dynamic binding.
3) every module is a executable file, which can be used in another program,
as e.g. a kcm... module.
