sorry,

i mean, ACTIONS -> logout -> ok

after doing this, normal log out to GDM, the panels and nautilus desktop 
lockup. the mouse still moves around, but nothing happens.

hope that clarifys things.

Ok, when you say "locks out totally" - what exactly do you mean? Do you
mean the SCREENSAVER kicks in and you can't get past it? Do you mean
that the screen BLANKS and you can't get the screen to come back? Sorry
to ask, but a bit more precision in the description might help to bring
a clear answer to the issue at hand mate...Cheers!
